The Blacksburg High School band has commissioned Virginia Tech music faculty member Travis Cross to compose an original concert score to commemorate BHS's induction into the Virginia High School Band Hall of Fame.

Celebrate this historic achievement, accomplished by only six high school bands in the entire state, by pledging your support for this original piece.

The original composition will debut in the 2010-11 school year, and contributors will be recognized during the concert season.

If the total pledges received exceed the cost of this commission, the remaining funds will be dedicated for future commissions for BHS bands.

Blacksburg High School Band Boosters Incorporated is a non-profit organization under the United States Internal revenue Code Section 501(c)(3) and is eligible to receive tax-deductible charitable contributions.

Travis Cross

Travis J. Cross is conductor of the Virginia Tech Symphonic Wind Ensemble and an assistant professor of music at VT. His reputation is spreading rapidly across the nation and around the world as a talented young composer and arranger. His original works and arrangements for band, choir, and orchestra have been performed by college, high school, and civic ensembles across the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Far East. He has appeared as a guest conductor, composer, and clinician in a number of states, and has conducted the BHS honor band and other honor bands in Virginia, Vermont, and Minnesota. We are privileged to have him compose an original score to celebrate the achievements of the BHS bands.
